Semper Eadem,

A History of Trinity Church 1698-2000

In 1998, Trinity Episcopal Church, Newport, Rhode Island, commissioned parishioner John B. Hattendorf, Professor of Maritime History at the US Navy War College, Newport, RI, to write a history of Trinity Church, as a part of its tercentenary celebration.

Semper Eadem, A History of Trinity Church 1698-2000, is now available in limited quantity.  This 500 page work, complete with many pictures, traces Trinity’s history from its colonial beginnings to the present.  Professor Hattendorf’s exhaustive research of Trinity’s own records, as well as those from other sources, gives a complete picture of an important colonial church.

This significant work is valuable not only to church members, but also to lovers of history.   Semper Eadem, as well as being a history of colonial America, also chronicles the development of the ideals of freedom of religion and the separation of church and state that are so integral to our way of life today.
