Dear Wardens and Vestry (and people of Trinity Church),
This past week Wendy and I visited a parish in North Carolina with a view to a one year interim period, probably beginning August 1 2020.
Despite the journey (driving both ways!), it was all a wonderful success with a sense of the Lord going before us in preparing the way in a myriad of ways.
We found the most gorgeous place to stay for the year, really lavishly and elegantly furnished. The church itself was built around 1835(a young building) and since then generations of the faithful have cared constantly and lovingly for the building; it has extensive Sunday School and education rooms and a fine modern and large kitchen. Hopefully the playground will entertain our grandchildren when they visit; there are even cloisters for the meditatively minded.
When everything is definite I will write again.
When we came home the most generous purse was awaiting our return; Wendy and I thank you all so very, very much. The purse far exceeded our expectations and we value the gift not only because of its size but also because of what it represents. What can we say but repeat, “Thank you all again exceedingly – Wardens, Vestry and people of Trinity Church”.
We will continue to keep abreast of all the wonderful things that are to continue and soon to happen at Trinity; “y’awl” (I better start practicing!), with Tim and Tanya, will continue in our prayers.
It’s not easy for us to say goodbye but we know a year will fly by; these five years at Trinity have been full of blessing, encouragements, challenges and some very, very fine friendships.
May the Lord continue to bless you and Trinity Church,
Alan
