Getting here.
Trinity has an arrangement with the city to use their parking lot on Sunday mornings. Print out the parking pass linked below and display it on your dashboard. The address for the parking lot is 20 Mary St, Newport, RI. This way you won't have to navigate parking in downtown Newport, especially in the summer months!
We do have a limited number of parking spots on our property. If you enter the church driveway on Spring Street you will find handicap parking spots, along with a few other spots. We encourage you to come a little early and park close to the building if you need to be close.
What to expect
We are a loving, inclusive, joyful congregation that worships in a traditional, liturgical style in a historic church. We have very unique box pews. When you arrive, an usher will help you find a seat. You can sit wherever you like, including the balcony! There are no assigned seats.
You are welcome to come dressed in whatever you feel comfortable in. There are several folks at Trinity who dress up a bit for church, but this choice is a personal one – wear what most helps you worship God!
Our 8 a.m. service uses Rite I worship, which means the language reflects the Elizabethan era. There is no music at this service. It is peaceful, reflective, and quiet. This service includes communion, and is about 40-45 minutes in length.
Our 10 a.m. service is our larger gathering. Our language in worship is more contemporary, and we sing hymns. The choir is present at this service, and will add beautiful music to our worship. Sunday School meets during this service, and the children join us before we begin Communion. This service is typically an hour to 70 minutes in length, and is followed by a coffee hour unless it's a holiday weekend or a special event.
Holy Communion is available to everyone, regardless of the denomination in which you were baptized. If it is meaningful for you to share in this sacred meal, there is a place for you at the table. If you'd like to learn more about baptism in the Episcopal Church, or about the Episcopal Church in general, contact the rector.
We look forward to welcoming you at worship!
